HalloWeek is here! š» Part 2 of this yearās black, white and lavender Halloween tablescape is sharing the sweet charcuterie board I put together as a dessert treat for my girlies I invited to dinner. I did not take my Halloween dinner as far as my Valentine menu when I hosted my girls back in February (click here to revisit my homemade pasta menu!) and opted to just pick up one of our favorite meals from growing up (Cowboy Chicken enchiladas, for curious Dallas friends). Because of that, I thought Iād kick it into high gear for dessert!
I give you, my take on the āChar-Booterieā board of the season!
I wish I had a fancy formula to offer up as how I created this sweet assembly. The reality of it is, I circled the Central Market candy & seasonal aisles about four times until my cart was finally telling a nice visual story. As yāall well know by now, no orange for me. Which made my candy shopping a bit more focused. Hereās the loose list of what you see:
- Wild Berry Lifesavers Gummies
- Pink-only Starbursts
- Ghost Reeses
- Strawberry yogurt covered pretzels
- Peanut butter filled pretzel bites
- Stroopwafels
- Pumpkin whoopie pie cookies
- Decorated iced sugar cookies
- Marbled chocolate bars
- Skull lollipops
- Chocolate hazelnut wafers
My charcuterie board is always a favorite of yāalls that I get questions about ā but it was an antique find down in Round Top, TX! Itās the feet yāall love so much, as do I. This one would be a comparable buy!
Now letās talk Oreo Ghosts.
To try and illustrate how easy these were to make, Iāll tell yāall that I started and finished them ~20 minutes before the photographer arrived on photoshoot day. It was a long shot and I was mentally preparing to not get to include them, but they were even easier and less messy than I anticipated!
You’ll Need:
- Baking sheets (I filled up just 2, you could easily need more or reuse)
- Glass measuring cup
- White chocolate chips
- Coconut oil
- Oreos (I used double thick, and wish I had gotten the orange frosting ones for Halloween!)
- Decorative eyes (I found mine in the baking aisle at the grocery)
Instructions:
- Spray or rub your baking sheets with oil (I used coconut since thatās what I also used in my chocolate).
- Add 1 cup of white chocolate chips & ~2 tablespoons of coconut oil to your measuring cup.
- Microwave in 30 second increments, pausing to mix up the chocolate + coconut oil.
- Repeat until your chocolate is blended with the oil, and be careful not to overheat! Donāt want that chocolate to start baking.
- Dip your Oreos about 75% of the way so they get the āghostā appearance.
- I scraped the back of my Oreo on the side of the measuring cup, just a bit so it didnāt clump or pool when I laid on the baking sheet.
- Add your decorative eyes.
- Pop directly in the freezer for ~20-30 minutes (doesnāt hurt to leave longer!) and then take out when theyāve hardened up.
- Place on your Char-Booterie board to enjoy!
Initially I was bound and determined to melt my chocolate properly on a double broiler. When I began racing the clock, that thought went out the window. Melting the chocolate with the coconut oil helped it to melt evenly and not bake, which is normally what chocolate will do in the microwave. Added bonus: the coconut oil added the slightest hint of flavor!
